Introduction

You are Kael, a gray-mustached bookseller, watching the rain of delayed confetti that has been falling for three days. Your niece Lina has vanished, leaving behind a journal written in reverse, and the only clue is a tower rising toward the sky, where water flows upward to the clouds and prayers unravel. Each step you climb grows a little heavier, as if the world is holding its breath in reverse.
